KOOMAN - The Night Rider Malayalam film review 4/5 stars

 Kooman is a thriller directed by Jeethu Joseph . Kooman stars Asif Ali, Renji Panicker, Baburaj, Jaffar Idukki, Reji Koshy and many others.

 

Kooman is about Giri (Asif Ali) a police officer in a village. Giri is a peculiar character, if anyone tries to act smart with him, he will get back on them. Some suicides happen and many more interesting things keep happening in the life of Giri, revealing anything more will spoil the fun. This is a thriller but with a interesting plot. This film also deals with an issue which recently happened in Kerala. So the timing of the release of this film is perfect.

I liked the movie, it just keeps our interest alive . The characters have been developed nicely. Each and every character adds to the movie. Many scenes stand out like the night scenes, the forest scenes, investigation scenes. The climax has been executed well.

To talk about negatives if you watch a lot of such films, after the interval there is  a scene where you can guess who may be involved in the crimes. There are few scenes where the director takes a dig at a specific ruling party indirectly by changing an alphabet of the name and the symbol of the flag but we can guess who he intends to mock. Jeethu Joseph is a director who's films are loved by everyone regardless of which religion or party one belongs to, so seeing something like this from him is not expected. If you really want to show your opinion then be open like Vivek Agnihotri(Kashmir Files).

Dirction by Jeethu Joseph is good as always. The main surprise was Asif Ali, man u have at last learned to act, hope you continue to act like this from now on. Renji Panicker as always superb, Baburaj is watchable, Hannah has done a good job, but it is Jaffar Idukki who steals the show in many scenes. All supporting cast have done their roles with lot of conviction.

Vishnu Shyam for background music and Satheesh Kurup for cinematography take a bow, both of you have put life into this movie. Editing by Issac paul is good.
